Conductor Josep Vicent makes his debut with the Columbus Symphony! He will lead the orchestra in several concerts of captivating music and energy. Starting with Falla’s Three Cornered Hat Suite and featuring Korngold’s emotionally rich Violin Concerto that will delight you and elevate the evening with its lyrical beauty. Falla’s El amor brujo and Márquez’s Danzón No. 2 completes the program in a lively homage to the great classics and influences from Flamenco, Latin dance and Spanish passion.

A resounding success marked the opening of ADDA·Simfònica’s 2025–26 season
Under the direction of Josep Vicent, ADDA·Simfònica launched its new symphonic season, Journey to Ithaca, last Friday, 3 October, to a sold-out hall and an overwhelming, electrifying ovation from the audience at the Auditorio de la Diputación de Alicante.
The programme featured the world premiere of ITACA, by Alicante-born composer Ximo Cano—dedicated to Josep Vicent and ADDA·Simfònica—alongside Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 2, performed with brilliance by Martín García García, and a powerful, deeply compelling interpretation of Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4.
In the words of critic José Antonio Cantón (El Mundo, RITMO, Scherzo), it was “an absolutely historic performance, one that leaves you speechless.”
Prior to the concert, Josep Vicent offered an exclusive talk for subscribers, sharing the conceptual thread of the season—an inner journey and a constant search for beauty and emotion.
“Each concert will be a stage of the journey—an invitation to emotion, to risk, and to the sonic beauty that connects us all,” the maestro remarked.

Josep Vicent made his debut as the new Principal Conductor of the Argovia Philharmonic with a vibrant and captivating performance.
The season-opening concert took place at the Alte Reithalle in Aarau, launching the 2025/26 program “Célébration.” It was the orchestra’s first opportunity to present Vicent to its audience, and he immediately won their hearts with his music, energy, and approachable style.
The evening featured Latvian violinist Kristine Balanas as soloist in the Violin Concerto by Austrian-Hungarian composer Erich Wolfgang Korngold. Her performance combined dazzling virtuosity with lyrical sensitivity and expressive depth, earning warm and sustained applause.
Vicent, who describes himself as a conductor who offers “more inspiration than instruction,” succeeded in bringing the orchestra together while conveying freshness and genuine enthusiasm. Critics praised his communicative flair and expressive gestures, which infused both the musicians and the audience with energy.
The program also included Igor Stravinsky’s symphonic suite The Firebird, which the orchestra performed with remarkable brilliance under Vicent’s direction.
The enthusiastic audience demanded encores, and the evening ended in a true spirit of celebration and connection between musicians and listeners.

Josep Vicent launches the season in Switzerland with the energy of Falla, Stravinsky and Márquez
Aarau, August 2025 – The Argovia Philharmonic opens its 2025/26 season with Spanish maestro Josep Vicent as its new Principal and Artistic Director. Renowned for his energy and warmth, Vicent will lead major symphonic projects in his first season at the helm of the orchestra.
The bond between Vicent and the Argovia Philharmonic was forged in 2023, when he debuted with Beethoven’s Seventh Symphony, achieving an immediate connection with both audience and musicians. This season’s program blends classical and contemporary repertoire, featuring works by Mozart, Stravinsky, Márquez, Schubert and Brahms, alongside distinguished international soloists.
The powerful season opening will feature Manuel de Falla and the spectacular international soloist Kristine Balanas, performing Korngold’s Violin Concerto.

Following previous collaborations with the group, Spanish conductor Josep Vicent has been appointed as the new principal conductor of the Argovia Philharmonic in Switzerland, for an initial four-year term as principal and artistic director.
Josep Vicent: "The Argovia Philharmonic and I have shared beautiful programs over the past few months, and I personally felt a strong connection with the orchestra. We have a lot in common artistically, and I'm very excited about future plans to build even stronger ties with audiences in Switzerland and beyond. And I must say, I fell in love with Aarau from the very first moment. More importantly, I am deeply grateful and appreciative of the trust and support of the orchestra's musicians and management. Josep Vicent has taken Alicante to the top of the international musical scene with his recent hit album, "Ritmo: Chick Corea Symphony Tribute," nominated for three Grammy Awards in 2023. His passion for music and commitment to the Alicante community are reflected in every performance, as demonstrated on Thursday, when he conducted the ADDA Simfònica orchestra in a vibrant performance.

The ADDA·SIMFÒNICA orchestra of the Alicante Provincial Council Auditorium and its principal conductor, Josep Vicent, have been nominated for Best Large Jazz Ensemble Album at the 66th American Grammy Awards for their album Ritmo: The Chick Corea Symphony Tribute. This nomination marks the culmination of a great year for the Alicante-based group, which, among other awards, was nominated for a Latin Grammy at the end of September, this time in the categories of Best Instrumental Album and Best Arrangement.
RHYTHM: "The Chick Corea Symphony Tribute" is a symphonic/jazz project in tribute to Jazz legend Chick Corea, with collaborators such as Paquito D'Rivera, David Pastor, Antonio Lizana with arrangements by Emilio Solla and recorded with the Warner Classics label.

This month, conductor Josep Vicent graces the cover of RITMO Magazine, where he offers an interesting interview about his project leading the ADDA Simfònica Alicante, an orchestra that will make his debut at Ibermúsica in an extraordinary concert on December 11th alongside the Orfeón Donostiarra. At this event at the National Auditorium in Madrid, we will hear Joan Maragall's spiritual song for choir and orchestra by Montsalvatge and Beethoven's colossal Symphony No. 9. This will be the Valencian conductor's third appearance at Ibermúsica, where he debuted in 2013 with The World Orchestra. He returns this year with the Belgian National Orchestra and Pablo Sainz-Villegas on a successful tour that took them to Madrid, Barcelona, and Zaragoza.
